There are many things in our lives that drive us to our knees to pray. There are many things like sickness, trouble with work, finances, our children, our spouse, for forgiveness, and so the list goes on. Our Father loves to hear our prayers and throughout the Bible He urges us to bring our cares to Him.

However, in all of the time we spend in prayer, how often do we actually pray for that which He asks us to pray for? There are a couple of things specifically which we are commanded to pray for, strength against temptation (Matt. 6:13, 26:41), forgiveness (Matt. 6:12), protection from the evil one (Matt. 6:13), and that our faith not fail (Luke 22:32). For a more complete list check out the article from Desiring God that have listed below.

The specific command I want to bring up is from Jesus in Matthew 9, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” How often do we pray for God to send out laborers? He doesn't just say pray, he says, pray earnestly! I must admit, I do not pray for this as I should. This is just one thing the Lord asks us to do. What if every Christian were to begin praying for the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers? Would the unreached people groups be reached? Would we finally see those nations and tribes hidden in the corners of the world turn to Christ? What if our little act of disobedience is what's holding us back from reaching the remaining 7,101 people groups (Joshua Project) that are unreached?

For the next 30 days I want to challenge you to join me in praying for God to send laborers into the harvest. Join me in praying for missionaries to be sent, evangelist to be sent, for church planters to be sent, for prophets and teachers to be sent. Join me in obeying this one simple command. Let's see what happens when we join together in obedience and prayer.

I dare you!
